HARRIS  COUNTY  FLOOD
CONTROL  DISTRICT  (HCFCD)

Special recognition should be assessed to the Harris County Flood Control District! Make sure to read the LINK of its Award Letter (below). This award was designated because of many reasons; "overall high quality in all aspects".

We would like to point out what the HCFCD said on it's  webpage when talking about the award (LINK - Award Description); Quote: "PARTNERSHIPS  ARE  KEY  TO  CONSERVATION  AT  THE  DISTRICT", Quote: "100 LINEAR  MILES  SERVE  AS  HIKE  AND  BIKE  TRAILS".

HCFCD has had quite a bit of resources over the years! Harris County, ranked as the third most populated County in the United States, has had flooding problems at times. It's location has created this. HCFCD has been able to grow to its award winning ways because of these things.

Montgomery County is lucky to be so close to such an organization! SO! We should learn from them how it builds TRAILS with other parties. Their Trails Brochure has eleven specific items to do this; see: HOW  TO  BUILD  TRAILS  ON  DISTRICT  RIGHT-OF-WAY (LINK - Trails Brochure).

We believe that HCFCD has figured out that their "sitting idle" land can be a VAST resource to the community, under the correct circumstances.
